UFC 115 LIDDELL vs. FRANKLIN
UFC 115 is heading north this time to Vancouver, Canada on June 12th and they have an exciting card lined up, it will be headlined by two real legends of the sport, Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell comes out of retirement to take on Rich “Ace” Franklin and pride superstar Mirko Cro Cop takes on the exciting stand up fighter Pat Barry, both should be stand up wars, others on the card include Paulo Thiago against Martin Kampmann, Ben Rothwell against Gilbert Yvel, Tyson Griffin, Mac Danzig, Carlos Condit, James Wilks the list goes on, this is a stacked card which should make a great night of fighting stay with us for news and bar listings.
Chuck Liddell vs Rich Franklin
This is a fight of two real legends of the UFC and two fighters that do not like boring fights so this really should be a cracker. Chuck was pretty much retired by Dana White after his last fight but he was not having that and thinks he has it in him for one more run at the title, Franklin has been moving between weights for his last few fights the former middleweight champion just could not beat Anderson Silva but he always fought him! Liddell likes to stand and bang but he is a good wrestler which you don’t see very much, Franklin also likes to stand and bang but a more technical fighter with good BBJ skills. Again this is a close fight to call if Liddell catches you, you get KO’d and with Franklin being a southpaw there’s a good chance he will get caught by that overhand right whereas Franklin is a more technical fighter who will come in with a good game plan and stick to it, with this I just want to see a good fight, my head says that Franklin will win this and would be happy to see either fighter win.
Mirko Cro Cop vs Pat Barry
I can’t wait for this fight, two heavyweight kickboxers! I could end there and you get the idea, Cro Cop is a big star in the MMA world but has had a pretty difficult time since coming to the UFC, he puts that down to having knee surgery and fighting when he shouldn’t because he “likes to fight” but says that he is 100% recovered now so lets hope we see the best of him. Pat Barry is another exciting fighter he’s pretty small for a heavyweight but that’s where he fights and he likes to stand and bang he says “ I don’t hit hard I hit scary” which tell you a little about him. I would just love this fight to be 3 rounds of stand up back and forth with a KO in the 4th minute of the 3rd round. Cro Cop is by far the more experienced here and could take Barry down you just don’t know, if Barry can catch Cro Cop with some heavy shots like Dos Santos did he will stop him. Who will win? I don’t know im just looking forward to an exciting fight, if I had to pick id go for Pat Barry.
Paulo Thiago vs Martin Kampmann
This fight should be another great fight, both really good fighters that do come to fight, Thiago has been impressive since coming to the UFC his only loss is against Jon Fitch who pretty much beats everybody and Kampmann is always exciting to watch, he seems to be winning all the right fights then loses which puts him back down the ranks. Thiago is a really good grappler but has been doing well standing up in the UFC and Kampmann is good at standing but has been doing well on the ground to! It could go anyway but I think Thiago is the better fighter here and has the bigger future in the UFC.
Ben Rothwell vs Gilbert Yvel
Neither of these fighters have been given an easy start to there UFC careers but it should be an interesting fight, Rothwell likes to stand and bang but does have some ground game whereas Yvel is primarily a Mui Thai, this could be a standing war with either on getting KO’d but if I was Rothwell I would take this to the ground and try and finish it there which is the way I think this fight will go.
Carlos Condit vs Rory MacDonald
This is going to be an exciting fight both fighters are good at striking and good at BBJ so it’s pretty even. Condit has much more experience though he is 24-5 with 23 fights won by stoppage and MacDonald is 10 – 0 with 10 by stoppage. MacDonald is going into this as a favourite with the bookmakers but I think that’s because of Condit’s mixed results so far in the UFC but make no mistake MacDonald is a great prospect but this is his toughest fight to date. Both fighters have a very well rounded game but I think with Condit as the dog and the experience he has I might just go for him in this, it should be a great fight.
Tyson Griffin vs Evan Dunham
This is going to be a good fight, you always hear fighters say that they will not fight training partners, these two guys are from Xtreme Couture so will know the ins and outs of each others game and props to them for putting the friendship aside to give us what I hope will be a good fight. Dunham is so far undefeated in the UFC and will most likely want to take this fight to the ground but as we have seen time and time again Griffin is pretty decent on the ground and at stopping people putting him there. I expect this to be a back and forward fight but think that Griffin will get the better or Dunham and give him his first loss in the UFC.
Mac Danzig vs Matt Wiman
Ultimate Fighter Season 6 winner Mac Danzig has had a rocky career in the UFC that has not gone to well and he is probably fighting for his job in this one so expect him to be under a lot of pressure, sometimes it brings out the best in fighters other times it does the opposite. Matt Wiman is a pretty good wrestler so should be able to take Danzig down when he wants although Danzig is good on the ground Wiman is better, this really could go either way for Danzig to win this he’s going to have to give it his all to stop Wiman wrestle his way to a victory.

David Loiseau vs Mario Miranda
Loiseau back in the UFC for the 3rd time, he’s a very good striker but has not won a fight in the UFC since 2005, Miranda had a pretty shaky start to his UFC career but has not really fought anybody good yet, he’s a grappler with a strong wrestling background, it’s a tough fight to call these are not the best fighters but in cases like this ill always go with the wrestler to grind out a victory.
James Wilks vs Peter Sobotta
Wilks won the Ultimate Fighter Season 9 but has not had the best showing in the UFC so far, he’s pretty good on the ground but his opponent Sobotta isn’t to bad on the ground and he’s the better striker so should have the advantage in this fight, if Sobotta is able to stop Wilks on the ground he should be able to out strike him and take the fight.
Ricardo Funch vs Claude Patrick
This is a fight of two grapplers but Funch likes to stand and bang, it’s a tough fight to call because we have not seen Patrick in the UFC yet, he might get nervous on his debut and for that reason alone im going to go for Funch.
Mike Pyle vs Jesse Lennox
They say styles make fights so this one should be good, Lennox is a good wrestler and loves to ground and pound while Pyle is a BBJ fighter and has much better experience against better fighters, they probably will cancel each other out on the ground so im going for the more experienced Pyle to win.
