Types of Bets You Can Make

When placing bets on the Internet, a bettor will encounter a variety of bets they can place. Some bets are placed that depend on a single outcome, while other bets rely on multiple outcomes that can span over several different matches, events, sports, or fights. Regardless of the type of bet you are placing, it is important to understand how each bet works, so that you know what needs to happen in order to win your bet. The common types of bets that can be placed on the Internet are as follows:

Single Bet – A single bet is the simplest form of bet on the Internet. When placing a single bet, your bet is dependent upon a single outcome. This bet is placed on a single fight, match, or event. If the lone desired outcome occurs (your fighter wins the match, for example), the single bet pays out. If the lone outcome fails to occur (I.e. – your fighter loses), then the single bet is lost.

Double Bet - A double bet counts on two events, matches, or fights. When placing a double bet, both outcomes must work out in order for the bet to pay out. This means that when placing a double bet, one must choose two teams, competitors, or fighters. If both win, the double bet pays. However, if one or both lose, then the double bet loses.

Treble Bet – The treble bet works in the same manner as a double bet; however, the treble bet reflects three principles as opposed to two. To win a treble bet, three teams, fighters, or competitors must win. If any of the three loses, then the treble bet is appropriately lost.

Fourfold Bet – As you may guess, a fourfold bet relies on four separate events. When placing a fourfold bet, all four teams or competitors must win in order for the fourfold bet to pay out. Should any of the four fall in defeat, the fourfold bet loses.

Fivefold Bet – A fivefold bet counts on five successfully occurring events. Five fighters or teams must win. Should this happen, the fivefold bet is a winner and pays out accordingly. Should any of the five lose, then the fivefold bet is a losing endeavor.

Trixie Bet – A trixie bet is a multi-part bet. When placing a trixie bet, one is placing four bets (one treble, three doubles) on three different fighters, competitors or teams in every combination. In order to realize a return on a trixie bet, two or more of the four bets must pan out.

  • A trixie bet might be placed as follows:

Treble bet - Gracie, Silva, Davis to win
Double bet - Gracie, Silva to win
Double bet - Gracie, Davis to win
Double bet - Silva, Davis to win

The trixie bet pays out if at least two of the four underlying bets win, while losing if less than two underlying outcomes occur.

Patent Bet – A patent bet works similar to the trixie bet in that there are four separate events that determine the overall outcome of the bet. However, the patent bet adds single bets into the universe of underlying bets.

  • A patent bet using the same principles would look like thefollowing:

Single bet - Gracie to win
Single bet - Davis to win
Single bet - Silva to win
Double bet - Gracie, Silva to win
Double bet - Gracie, Davis to win
Double bet - Silva, Davis to win
Treble bet - Gracie, Silva, Davis to win

In the patent bet, one or more of the underlying bets must win in order for the patent bet to pay out.

Yankee Bet – A yankee bet is a bet using four principles that are bet on eleven different ways.

  • A sample yankee bet looks like the following:

Double bet - Silva, Gracie to win
Double bet - Silva, Davis to win
Double bet - Silva, Penn to win
Double bet - Gracie, Davis to win
Double bet - Gracie, Penn to win
Double bet - Penn, Davis to win
Treble bet - Silva, Gracie, Davis to win
Treble bet – Silva, Gracie, Penn to win
Treble bet - Gracie, Penn, Davis to win
Treble bet - Silva, Davis, Penn to win
Fourfold bet - Silva, Gracie, Davis, Penn to win

In order for a yankee bet to win, two or more of the underlying events must successfully occur for the yankee bet to pay out. Yankee bets are placed utilizing six double bets, four treble bets, and one fourfold bet.

Super Yankee Bet – A super yankee bet relies on twenty-six underlying bets spanned throughout five principles (fighters or teams).

A combination of bets on the five principles is placed as follows:

ten double bets
ten treble bets
five fourfold bets
one fivefold bet

A super yankee bet pays if two or more of the underlying double, treble, fourfold, or fivefold events successfully occur.

Lucky 15 Bet – Lucky 15 bets rely upon fifteen bets that encompass four principles (fighters, teams, or competitors). A lucky 15 bet requires four single bets, six double bets, four treble bets, and one fourfold bet. All of the underlying events must successfully occur in order for a lucky 15 bet to pay out.

Lucky 31 Bet – A lucky 31 bet works similar to the lucky 15 bet in that all underlying events must successfully occur in order to win the bet. However, a lucky 31 bet has five underlying principles to count on.

  • A lucky 31 bet is placed in the following combination:

five single bets
ten double bets
ten treble bets
five fourfold bets
one fivefold bet
